Summary:

This document describes an isolated high power factor (PF), thyristor dimming LED driver that provides a nominal voltage of 21 V, rated current for LED strings over an input voltage range of 90 VAC to 132 VAC. 530 mA drive. The LED driver uses the LYT4314E device from the LYTSwitch family of ICs.

The topology used is a single-stage, power factor-corrected flyback topology that provides high efficiency, high power factor, low THD, isolation, low component count, and excellent TRIAC dimming.

The LYTSwitch IC also offers a variety of complex protection features, including loop open loop or auto-restart in output short-circuit conditions, which enables high power factor and low THD. Input overvoltage shutdown protection provides enhanced resistance to input faults and surges, and accurate hysteretic thermal shutdown ensures that the average PCB temperature is within safe limits under all conditions.
