Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of a new 4-way ESD protection array - VBUS54FD-SD1. The device is packaged in an ultra-small, chip-scale CLP1007-5L package for use in portable electronics. Without sacrificing performance, the Vishay Semiconductors VBUS54FD-SD1 is much smaller than the previous generation, featuring low capacitance and low leakage current to protect high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.

The size of the protection array introduced today is 1.0mm x 0.7mm and the thickness is 0.27mm. The board space used is 70% less than the previous generation and the volume is reduced by 7 times. The VBUS54FD-SD1 has a typical load capacitance of 0.9pF and is designed for "flow-through" design to protect high-speed HDMI, DisplayPort, eSATA, USB 3.0, 1394/FireWire and Thunderbolt in smartphones, digital cameras, MP3 players and portable game consoles. Data line. This device saves space and is the first to implement USB 3.0 interface protection in smartphones.

The maximum leakage current of the protection array at 5.5V operating voltage is less than 0.1μA, the typical breakdown voltage at 1mA is 7.5V, and the highest clamping voltage at 3A is 15V. The VBUS54FD-SD1 provides ±15kV (air and contact discharge) transient protection for data lines in accordance with per IEC 61000-4-2. The device's Moisture Sensitivity Level (MSL) reaches J-STD-020 Level 1 and is capable of 10 seconds of +260 °C reflow, in accordance with Vishay's green standard.
